first night

We were with Elizabeth for a while last night and she was hooked up to many different IVs/breathing tube/temporary pacemaker, etc. She looked as if she was resting peacefully and she looked like herself...not too swollen or anything. We were pleasantly surprised with how small the incision looked, maybe 2-1/2 inches (covered by bandages). We saw the surgeon again and he was pleased with how she was doing. We decided to get a good night's rest at the place we are staying rather than stay at the CICU since tonight they'll keep her completely asleep and we can't do anything being there. The rest of the nights may be less restful and so it was recommended that we get a good night's rest tonight. Thank you again for continued prayers...keep praying, for she has a lot of recovery ahead. The Lord has sustained us and His hand has protected Lizzie all day. Thanks for all the comments and emails...it's so encouraging.
