Lizzie still has a blockage of electrical communication between her atria and ventricles (heart block). Her atria pump but her ventricles don't on their own. Because of this, she is scheduled to have a pacemaker inserted surgically on Friday. The pacemaker will be placed in the upper portion of her abdomen and small wires will be attached to her heart. This is relatively simple surgery (compared to last week, anyway). She will still come out of surgery with a ventilator tube and maybe some drainage tubes, but she should come off of all those quickly. We are probably looking at being in the hospital through early next week.
Other than that, she is doing well. She ate some pears today, her first solid food in a week. She's enjoying her toys and loves it when Mom or Dad squeeze themselves into her bed for naps.

ReplyDeleteI'll just pray that come Friday everything will be working properly and that the Pacemaker won't be needed.
ReplyDeleteHey you all! We'll be praying for the surgery on Friday -- although I'm still hoping she won't need the pacemaker. Glad she is continuing to feel better. Praying for continued strength for you two as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update! We will be praying for Friday as well -
ReplyDeleteYou are in our thoughts constantly, we love you all. We're off to John's family reunion, leaving early tomorrow morning, so it may be harder to communicate - know that we are thinking of you!
See you soon.
Can't imagine how tiny this pacemaker must be. Another amazing medical intervention...and we will be keeping all of you in our thoughts again on Friday.
